'It is true that the doctor has the inestimable back-up of psychologists and, especially, the effective, essential role of nursing in providing emotional support for the patient. But as a professional doctor they must have first-hand familiarity with the fear, bitterness, sadness and general emotions that come with illness. There is no doubt that literature is an excellent source of learning materials.'
